For Redtail’s fifth vintage we combined 48% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, and 16% Syrah, and 16% Petite Sirah. The spontaneous native yeast fermentation yielded an extraordinary aromatic profile that, among other things, reminds us of the intoxicating outdoor air after our first rain of the season.
In the glass the 2019 Redtail begins with a bouquet of wild lavender and fennel with fresh berries. The palate brings in blackberries, violets, and leather with a finish of Herbes de Provence and roasted meats.
